About this Position  

At PFD, we bring people together through food and technology plays an important role in making that happen.

As a Senior Systems Engineer, you'll help shape and support our Microsoft infrastructure across both on-premises and Azure environments. This is a senior technical engineering role focused on modernising our infrastructure, strengthening security, reducing technical debt and delivering cloud initiatives that keep our business running smoothly.

Working closely with application owners, vendors and the wider IT team, you'll play a key role in ensuring our technology is secure, reliable and ready for future growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support and enhance our Microsoft infrastructure across on-premises and Azure environments.
  • Manage Windows Server, Active Directory, Microsoft 365, Azure AD and core infrastructure services.
  • Deliver infrastructure upgrades, cloud migration and platform modernisation initiatives.
  • Manage endpoint technologies including SCCM and Microsoft Intune.
  • Strengthen infrastructure security through identity and access management, vulnerability remediation and system hardening.
  • Perform infrastructure maintenance, patching and lifecycle management.
  • Provide Level 3 technical support and participate in the on-call roster.
  • Collaborate with application owners, vendors and internal stakeholders to deliver reliable technology solutions.

 

What We’re Looking For

To thrive in this role, you will bring:

  • Extensive Systems Engineering experience within a medium to large enterprise environment.
  • Strong Microsoft infrastructure expertise, including Windows Server, Active Directory, Microsoft 365 and Azure.
  • Experience with VMware, SCCM, Microsoft Intune and enterprise infrastructure technologies.
  • Experience delivering Azure cloud or infrastructure modernisation projects.
  • A strong understanding of infrastructure security, Identity & Access Management (IAM) and vulnerability management.
  • PowerShell or other scripting experience.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication and stakeholder management skills.


Highly regarded:

  • Linux/Unix administration.
  • AWS or GCP experience or certifications.
  • VMware or ITIL certification.
  • Infrastructure as Code tools (Chef, Puppet or Ansible).
  • Experience with CyberArk, Rapid7, EDR/XDR, SOAR or similar security technologies.
  • Knowledge of security frameworks such as CIS, NIST or ISO 27001.

 

What Success Looks Like

Within your first 6-12 months, you'll have:

  • Reduced the backlog of infrastructure and Level 3 support requests.
  • Delivered key Azure migration and infrastructure uplift initiatives.
  • Helped transition our Microsoft environment into a stable Business-as-Usual (BAU) state.
  • Reduced technical debt and improved the security, performance and reliability of our infrastructure.
  • Built trusted relationships with application owners and stakeholders across the business.
