About this Position

We’re seeking a Senior Data Engineer - Advanced Analytics & Machine Learning Platforms to own and engineer the data pipelines and curated datasets that power advanced analytics and machine learning on Databricks.

This is a hands-on senior role focused on building reliable, scalable, production-grade data assets that support analytics, forecasting, optimisation and AI use cases not just reporting. Acting as the technical authority for analytics engineering, this role bridges raw data ingestion, curated analytical datasets and ML-ready feature layers, ensuring analytics and data science teams can work with confidence and speed.

Key Responsibilities

• Build and optimise production-grade Databricks pipelines using PySpark and SQL.
• Develop curated analytics datasets using dbt to support advanced analytics and ML use cases.
• Enable data scientists with feature-ready, ML-friendly datasets.
• Improve pipeline reliability, performance and cost efficiency.
• Establish and uplift analytics engineering standards, patterns and best practices.
• Embed strong data modelling, testing and documentation practices.
• Collaborate across analytics, data science and governance to ensure trusted, reusable data assets.

What We’re Looking For

To thrive in this role, you will bring:

Must Have / Non-Negotiable Experience

• Senior-level, hands-on experience with Databricks in production environments.
• Strong PySpark and SQL capability.
• Practical, hands-on experience with dbt.
• Experience supporting machine learning or advanced analytics use cases.
• Strong data modelling skills and disciplined engineering practices.

Nice to Have Experience

• Exposure to MLflow and/or Feature Store.
• Experience working in Azure cloud environments.
• Performance and cost optimisation experience on Spark platforms.

What Success Looks Like in 12-Months

• Stable, performant and production-grade analytics pipelines operating on Databricks.
• Advanced analytics and ML teams consuming reliable, feature-ready datasets.
• Reduced pipeline failures and improved performance and cost efficiency.
• Clear analytics engineering standards embedded across the platform.
• Strong senior ownership of analytics engineering and ML data enablement.
