About this Position

At PFD Food Services, we bring people together through food. Behind every great product is a team committed to quality, safety, and doing things the right way.

The Quality Systems and Compliance Coordinator - Seafood & Meat plays a key role in ensuring PFD’s food safety and quality frameworks remain compliant, consistent, and easy to use across multiple sites.

This role focuses on organising, structuring, and maintaining existing Quality Management System (QMS) documentation. The foundation and materials are already in place; what’s needed now is someone with the capability to bring order, clarity, and accessibility to those systems.

Working closely with the Quality & Technical Manager and the national QA team, this person will refine how information is presented, stored, and accessed, ensuring documentation aligns with Global Food Safety Standards (GFSI) and supports compliance across seafood and meat operations.

The position also offers the opportunity to support Food Service operations by assisting with local audits and providing coverage during periods of leave.

Note: Candidates must be comfortable working around raw meat and seafood environments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Quality Management System (QMS): Maintain and organise existing QMS documentation to ensure accuracy, consistency, and compliance with GFSI standards and company policies. Reformat the “Food Safety & Quality Manual” to improve usability and accessibility.
  • Verification & Auditing: Oversee verification activities for seafood and meat products, support internal audits, and assist with recall or withdrawal processes when required.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to streamline documentation and processes, driving greater efficiency and standardisation across sites.
  • Customer & Supplier Interface: Maintain accurate raw material and finished goods specifications, support the Approved Supplier Program, and ensure compliance with retailer and regulatory requirements.
  • Documentation & Reporting: Keep all procedures and records current, well-organised, and version-controlled. Prepare concise reports highlighting progress, risks, and key compliance actions.
  • Safety & Culture: Ensure QA activities meet hygiene and sanitation standards, promoting a proactive culture of ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement.

What We’re Looking For

To thrive in this role, you will bring:

  • Demonstrated experience managing or maintaining QA Management Systems, including procedures, prerequisites, and document control.
  • Strong understanding of BRC, SQF, or GFSI food safety standards and their practical application.
  • Proven background in the food industry, ideally within seafood or meat processing.
  • Familiarity with Woolworths-branded or retail compliance standards.
  • Excellent attention to detail, strong organisational skills, and ability to work independently.
  • Clear understanding of what “good” looks like in food safety and quality compliance.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills across multiple sites.

Nice to Have (Bonus)

  • Experience across both seafood and meat categories.
  • Internal auditing qualification or training.
  • Experience reorganising or reformatting technical documentation or compliance libraries.
  • Familiarity with Woolworths Supplier Excellence or similar compliance frameworks.

What Success Looks Like (6-12 Months)

  • The Food Safety & Quality Manual and supporting documentation are well-organised, current, and intuitive to navigate.
  • Quality systems are clear, consistent, and used confidently across all relevant sites.
  • Early wins achieved and information is easier to find, processes are simpler, and documentation is aligned with compliance standards.
  • Strong working relationships established with QA teams, site managers, and key business stakeholders.
  • You’ll have taken full ownership of the role, bringing structure, efficiency, and pride to how systems are maintained.
  • Systems “look good, feel organised, and work in practice,” forming a solid base for ongoing improvement.
