As demand continues to grow, we have expanded rapidly, now delivering a superior range of dry goods, frozen and chilled products, fresh seafood and meat, confectionery, paper products, and cleaning solutions.

In recent years, we’ve seen significant growth and invested in our systems and processes, building a close partnership with Woolworths Group that has continued to deliver high-quality service for our customers and suppliers.

About this Position

At PFD Food Services, we bring people together through food  and quality and food safety sit at the heart of everything we do.

We’re seeking a National Quality Assurance Manager - Food Service to lead our Quality Assurance function across Australia’s Food Service Sites. Based in Brisbane, this role has direct responsibility for Quality Assurance across Queensland and Tasmania, while leading a national team of four QA professionals based in Brisbane, Melbourne, Sydney and Adelaide - fostering capability, confidence, and a strong quality culture across the business.

This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who enjoys being out in the business, building relationships, supporting sites, leading audits, and developing people - while also shaping systems, standards, and continuous improvement at a national level.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the national Food Service Quality Assurance team, creating a culture of collaboration, learning, and accountability
  • Assure food safety, quality, and compliance across all food service sites.
  • Conduct internal audits and facilitate external audits (HACCP, SQF, customer and regulatory)
  • Drive corrective and preventative actions following audits, incidents, and complaints.
  • Manage food safety certifications and customer/regulatory requirements.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate food safety and quality risks.
  • Lead Management Review and HACCP Team meetings.
  • Champion continuous improvement initiatives and training programs across sites.
  • Support customer complaint and incident management.
  • Align core QA systems and processes with PFD’s seafood and meat Quality Assurance teams.
  • Contribute to national projects, including QA system uplift and digitisation.

What We’re Looking For

To thrive in this role, you will bring:

  • Proven people leadership experience, including direct reports and team development
  • Strong HACCP and food safety systems knowledge.
  • Hands-on experience leading internal and external audits (Internal or Lead Auditor qualifications preferred).
  • A collaborative, relationship-driven approach with the ability to influence across operations, logistics, supply chain, and corporate teams.
  • A practical mindset and comfortable balancing strategic thinking with rolling up your sleeves.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to translate technical requirements into practical actions.
  • Willingness to travel nationally (approximately 30% depending on business needs).

What Success Looks Like

Within the first 6 months, you’ve built strong relationships across sites, teams, and stakeholders, with a clear understanding of how we operate and what matters most.

Within 12 months, you’ve completed a gap assessment of our QA systems and started addressing key priorities to lift maturity, while maintaining strong audit outcomes and a confident, capable team.

Ongoing success looks like trusted partnerships, a strong quality culture, and continuous improvement that’s practical, sustainable, and people-led.

What PFD is Offering the Successful Candidate

This role offers competitive remuneration, superannuation, and a range of staff benefits, including discounted staff purchases, accommodation, health insurance, and banking offers.
