About this Position

As National Account Manager, you will own a portfolio of strategic national customers across the Australian foodservice market. You will lead customer partnerships, joint business planning and commercial execution to deliver profitable growth across revenue, margin, range, service and contract performance.

This is a hands-on commercial role suited to someone who can balance senior customer engagement with execution through a complex national branch and supply chain network.

This role suits an experienced National Account Manager who can operate strategically with customers, influence internal teams and turn insight into practical plans that improve customer value and business performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the commercial performance of a strategic national account portfolio, delivering revenue, margin, ranging, retention and growth targets.
  • Develop and execute account plans and Joint Business Plans aligned to customer priorities, channel strategy and PFD’s commercial objectives.
  • Lead customer negotiations across trading terms, pricing reviews, contract renewals, tenders, promotional activity and range opportunities.
  • Use customer, category, margin and market insights to identify growth opportunities, improve profitability and strengthen competitive positioning.
  • Build trusted relationships with senior customer stakeholders and maintain strong internal alignment across Sales, Operations, Finance, Procurement, Category, Supply Chain and Legal.
  • Lead and coordinate customer onboarding, launch readiness and ongoing execution across branches, pricing, supply chain, finance and operations.
  • Monitor service performance, availability, DIFOT, substitutions and customer issues, coordinating root-cause analysis and corrective actions where required.
  • Work with key suppliers and internal category/procurement teams to unlock range, availability, supplier support and commercial opportunities.
  • Manage sales forecasting, customer performance reporting, pipeline management and business reviews with clear ownership and disciplined follow-up.
  • Monitor competitor activity, customer performance and market trends to identify risks, opportunities and recommended actions.

What We’re Looking For

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

  • Proven experience managing national or major accounts in FMCG, foodservice, retail, grocery, petrol and convenience, healthcare, hospitality or a related B2B customer environment.
  • A track record of delivering profitable growth through account planning, customer engagement, negotiation and commercial execution.
  • Strong commercial acumen, including confidence with pricing, margin, trade investment, forecasting, customer profitability and contract performance.
  • The ability to interpret data and turn customer, category and financial insights into clear recommendations and growth plans.
  • Strong negotiation, influencing and stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to engage senior customer and internal decision-makers.
  • High ownership, discipline and follow-through, with the ability to manage competing priorities across customers, projects and stakeholders.
  • Experience working cross-functionally with operations, supply chain, finance, procurement, category, marketing or legal teams to deliver customer outcomes.
  • A practical, resilient and commercially curious style, with the ability to operate in a fast-paced national distribution environment.
