As demand continues to grow, we have expanded rapidly, now delivering a superior range of dry goods, frozen and chilled products, fresh seafood and meat, confectionery, paper products, and cleaning solutions.

In recent years, we’ve seen significant growth and invested in our systems and processes, building a close partnership with Woolworths Group that has continued to deliver high-quality service for our customers and suppliers.

In 2024, Woolworths moved to a 100% interest in the PFD business, bringing PFD exciting opportunities as a strategic part of the Group. Sharing expertise across both teams will ensure our continued success and drive further growth and unlock our collective potential.

About this Position

At PFD Food Services, we bring people together through food. As part of our ongoing digital transformation, we’re seeking an experienced OpenEdge Developer to join our national IT team and help modernise the way our systems connect and communicate.

This is a newly created role designed to strengthen the integration between our core ERP system (MFG/Pro to Progress 4GL) and other enterprise platforms including Salesforce, Informatica, and Manhattan WMS.

You’ll be part of a close-knit, collaborative development team spread across Australia, working in a complex, fast-moving environment where your technical expertise and curiosity will directly influence how we evolve our business systems to support a company that delivers food across the nation every day.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, and maintain Progress 4GL based business applications (MFG/Pro) and integrations with internal and external systems.
  • Build and support APIs and integration workflows (REST, SOAP, or other methods) connecting ERP, Salesforce, Informatica, and Manhattan.
  • Ensure smooth data flow between systems, supporting business operations across Finance, Sales, and Logistics.
  • Contribute to system documentation, version control, and change management processes.
  • Collaborate with the Development Team Lead, Solutions Architect, and business stakeholders to deliver integration solutions aligned with business needs.
  • Participate in agile project cycles, supporting the ongoing transformation of PFD’s enterprise applications landscape.

What We’re Looking For

To thrive in this role, you will bring:

  • 3-5 years’ hands-on experience with OpenEdge (Progress 4GL) development, ideally within an ERP environment.
  • Strong understanding of system integration principles, particularly REST and SOAP APIs.
  • Practical experience with Informatica or Salesforce integrations (highly regarded).
  • Sound knowledge of databases such as EnterpriseDB, Progress, or SQL.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work across technical and business teams.
  • A curious, proactive mindset; someone who enjoys problem-solving, learning new technologies, and finding better ways to connect systems.
  • The ability to adapt and deliver in a fast-paced environment with multiple moving parts.

Bonus points for:

  • Experience with Manhattan WMS or within Food Services / FMCG / Distribution environments.
  • Familiarity with JavaScript frameworks or Java for integration and interface development.
