In 2024, Woolworths moved to a 100% interest in the PFD business, bringing PFD exciting opportunities as a strategic part of the Group. Sharing expertise across both teams will ensure our continued success and drive further growth and unlock our collective potential.

About this Position

At PFD Food Services, we bring people together through food and behind every delivery, every customer interaction, and every meal shared, there’s a team of passionate people working hard to protect and support our business.

We’re looking for a hands-on, strategic, and people-focused DC Manager to lead our Chullora site, one of PFD’s largest and most dynamic operations, spanning over 26,000 sqm with 250+ employees and a transport fleet of 110 trucks.

In this role, you’ll oversee the entire distribution centre operation from warehouse and transport to safety, compliance, and continuous improvement. You’ll have 10 direct reports (including Day, Afternoon and Night Shift Managers, Transport, Inventory, and Administration to name a few), mentor emerging leaders, and partner closely with Sales, Transport, and Finance to ensure the site runs safely, efficiently, and profitably.

This is a role for someone who thrives on pace, complexity, and collaboration. A leader who enjoys the adrenaline of keeping things moving while shaping a strong, engaged, and high-performing team culture.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strong leadership, guidance, and mentorship to build capability and drive accountability.
  • Oversee end-to-end warehouse, transport, and inventory operations to meet service and delivery standards.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives that deliver efficiency, cost control, and productivity gains.
  • Manage operational and labour budgets, ensuring financial targets are achieved.
  • Maintain compliance with HACCP, OH&S, SQF, and cold chain standards to ensure audit readiness.
  • Lead or support key site projects.
  • Partner closely with Sales, Transport, and Finance teams to optimise outcomes across the supply chain.
  • Build strong relationships with employees, unions, and stakeholders to ensure a stable, collaborative work environment.

What We’re Looking For

To thrive in this role, you will bring:

  • Proven end-to-end supply chain leadership experience across warehousing, transport, and customer fulfilment.
  • Demonstrated success managing large, complex DC or logistics operations with 250+ employees.
  • Strong people leadership skills with the ability to mentor, coach, and build capability within your team.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills across all levels of the business.
  • Experience in a unionised environment, with the ability to build positive working relationships.
  • A continuous improvement mindset with proven ability to deliver measurable efficiencies.
  • Strong understanding of HACCP, OH&S, and cold storage processes.
  • Commercial acumen with experience managing operational budgets and cost control.
  • Willingness to work flexibly including weekends and public holidays to support site operations.

What Success Looks Like

Within your first 6-12 months, success will look like:

  • Strong cost control: Operational and labour spend managed within budget through smart planning and process improvements.
  • A confident, capable leadership team: Your direct reports are growing under your mentorship, leading their shifts with consistency and accountability.
  • Smooth EBA negotiations and strong relationships: Collaboration and communication thrive across a unionised environment.
  • Audit and compliance excellence: The site remains audit-ready, meeting or exceeding HACCP, SQF, and OH&S standards.
  • End-to-end operational alignment: Warehousing, transport, and sales teams work seamlessly together to deliver exceptional customer outcomes.
  • Personal growth and recognition: You’re known as a trusted, forward-thinking leader with deep operational knowledge and the ability to balance people, performance, and pace.
