About this Position  

At PFD Foods, we bring people together through food and we’re looking for a bold, people-first leader to help shape the next chapter of our Queensland business.

Based in Lytton, Brisbane, the General Manager, QLD will lead one of our most commercially and culturally significant regions. Overseeing a $830M+ multi-site operation across 15 locations including two seafood processing facilities and one meat facility, this is a high-impact role with broad accountability across people, performance, and culture.

This is more than a leadership role it’s a platform to create momentum, embed structure, and inspire a values-led, high-performance culture. As the first external leader in many years, you'll have the opportunity to build trust, lead transformation, and elevate a proud and loyal team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Full P&L ownership for the QLD business, including budgeting, forecasting, and daily trading analysis.
  • Lead and develop 11 direct reports across key leadership roles, including regional area and branch managers.
  • Drive state-wide alignment with national strategies, partnering with the ELT and national functions.
  • Champion a safety-first mindset, ensuring compliance with WHS, food safety (HACCP), COR, and audit frameworks.
  • Demonstrate calm, decisive leadership during audits, disruptions, or times of operational pressure.
  • Invest time on the ground to build connection and continuity across geographically dispersed teams.
  • Travel across QLD (approx. 1 week per month) to maintain visibility and support local leaders.

 

What We’re Looking For

To thrive in this role, you will bring:

  • 5+ years’ senior leadership experience in multi-site operations (foodservice, FMCG, cold chain, or logistics preferred).
  • Proven ability to manage large-scale commercial P&Ls ($100M+), with strong commercial and analytical acumen.
  • A hands-on, strategic leader who can delegate effectively while remaining close to performance levers.
  • Experience leading across both sales and operations functions.
  • Empathetic and adaptable communicator, you are able to engage and influence at all levels, from warehouse to boardroom.
  • Strong understanding of cold chain distribution, food processing, and safety culture.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Business, Supply Chain, or equivalent. MBA or CPA highly regarded.

 

What success looks like in the first 12–18 months

  • Build trust quickly across the QLD network through consistent, hands-on leadership.
  • Uplift performance and commercial acumen.
  • Navigate upcoming retirements by identifying and developing future leaders.
  • Strengthen operational readiness and resilience during peak periods and audit events.
  • Lead with clarity and alignment across the state, in lockstep with national strategies.
  • Deliver budget expectations while driving team engagement and cultural alignment.
